Edward Grauman is an experienced litigator who has represented plaintiffs and defendants in high-stakes, complex disputes across a wide range of industries and areas of law, from antitrust, securities, and RICO to insurance coverage, environmental, and general commercial matters. Edward has successfully represented clients in federal and state courts, government investigations, and arbitral proceedings. His experience across sectors and subject-matter areas gives him a deep understanding of the business considerations involved in large-scale disputes and enables him to provide sound strategic and tactical advice.

 

Edward served as managing principal of the Austin office of Beveridge & Diamond. Earlier in his career, he was a litigator at Sullivan & Cromwell and Boies, Schiller & Flexner.

Representative matters include:
  • Representing a putative class of plaintiffs in a RICO suit against Boeing and Southwest regarding their conspiracy to conceal defects in the 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
     

  • Representing a putative class of application developers in an antitrust suit against Facebook regarding its effort to dominate the social-data and social-advertising markets.
     

  • Representing a putative class of application developers in a RICO suit against Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg regarding their scheme to kill plaintiffs’ competing applications.
     

  • Defending Microsoft in a multibillion-dollar antitrust suit alleging anticompetitive conduct relating to its development of the Windows 95 operating system.
     

  • Representing American Express in a multibillion-dollar antitrust suit against MasterCard, Visa, and eight banks alleging anticompetitive conduct in the payment-card industry.
     

  • Defending Wells Fargo in an antitrust class action alleging bid-rigging in the municipal- derivatives market.
     

  • Defending heirs of John D. Rockefeller Sr. against a CERCLA claim by a reorganized debtor seeking to recover the costs of a $50-million cleanup at a lead smelter and mine.
     

  • Representing Union Carbide at the trial and subsequent appeal of a CERCLA claim seeking to recover the costs of a multimillion-dollar PCB cleanup at a chemical plant.
     

  • Representing Tyco affiliates in suits seeking insurance recovery for multimillion-dollar losses from warehouse fires.
     

  • Representing Zurich Financial Services and an Assurant executive in SEC investigations into finite-reinsurance transactions.
